FINDING THE RIGHT CASTER FOR YOUR APPLICATION
Choosing the appropriate caster for your application is incredibly important both for the equipment and for the person moving the equipment. The wrong caster can have adverse effects on the physical being of the person as well as the equipment being moved. The proper selection will spare wear and tear and save time and money in the long run.
CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
- What is the total load capacity that will be supported?
- What type of surface and where will the caster wheel be used? The environment?
- What is the condition of the surface?
- What type of mounting is necessary? Plate Caster or Stem Caster?
- If a plate caster, do you now the dimensions? Bolt hold spacing?
- Is a swivel lock required?
- Are there any height limitations?
- Is a brake required?
- Will equipment be subject to shock loading?
- What is the maximum speed the equipment will experience?
- Will the equipment be used in food preparation or handling?
- Does the environment have fluctuating or extreme temperatures?
